GASCOGNE ~ CHATEAU DE BORDES
Produced and Bottled by Christian Morel
Gascony’s fine wines and warm hospitality go back a long way. The Gallo-Roman mosaics at Séviac in Montréal du Gers bear witness to the fact that Gascony had vineyards as far back as the fifth century.
In those days, the Adour and Baïse rivers were the most important routes for transporting wine to the Nordic countries. This region, tucked away between the foot of the Pyrenees and the gateway to the Atlantic has always been a fertile land of hillsides and valleys almost entirely devoted to the art of wine growing.
In the heart of Gascony, the vineyard of Domaine de Bordes comprises 90 hectares of vines. Our light soil & our ocean climate offer optimum maturity for our different grapes: Colombard (36 hectares), Sauvignon Blanc & Gris, Ugni Blanc, Petit & Gros Manseng: Our grapes produce both fruity & dry white wines, with flavours of exotic fruit and white flowers.
With our Cabernet Sauvignon, we make an amazing fresh and flavor some rosé. The Merlot offers aromas of red fruits.
Proprietors since 1927, the Morel family looks after the vineyards, the wine-making and the distillation with great care. Thanks to our knowledge and passion for the distillation process, we also produce a high quality Armagnac
