R&H LAMOTTE PREMIER CRU CHAMPAGNE
The relationship between Lamott's family and the village of Champillon, in the heart of the Premier Cru vineyards of Champagne predates the French Revolution as Jean-Baptiste Lamotte was a renowned timber merchant & vineyard owner. Jean-Baptiste Lamotte was a contemporary of Louis XV1 and his son Francois-Charles Lamott who was born in 1801 in Champillon. His two sons Francois-Victor and Jules Lamotte, began in earnest to plant and cultivate the vineyards around Champillon during the mid-19th century. The grapes from these vineyards were sold to other champagne 'houses', but two generations later, Rene Lamotte, born 1902, and his sister Henriette, born 1906 decided to develop and market their own champagne with the grapes from their own vineyards and the first bottles of R&H Lamotte champagne were sold just after the first world war. Nearly a century later Edourad Guillepain great-grandson of Rene Lamotte, operates 'passionately' a large part of the original family estate, continuing the work of six generations of wine makers.
R&H Lamotte have highly prized vineyards and are located in the historic heart of the champagne wine region around the villages of Champillon, Dizy & Ay. This exceptional 'terroir' is now a UNESCO World Heritage site and the vineyards are all rated Premier and Grand Cru status. These vineyards are next to the famous vineyards of Hautvillers, where a local monk, Dom Perignon, officiated the vineyards and wine production. Three grape varieties are grown in the Champagne region, Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Munier, but only Chardonnay & Pinot Noir are permitted to make Premier & Grand Cru Champagne. "There is no great wine without grapes of high quality". Edouard Guillepain priorities to provide the best care in his vineyards, protecting the vines against 'parasites', whilst ensuring minimal impact on the environment and when the time is right, harvesting his grapes at optimal ripeness. In general, each operation in the vineyard, whether manual or mechanical is reflected and measured.

These wines will be aged on their lees for 30 to 48 months before bottling.
This wine of a beautiful gold colour covered with a string of very fine bubbles and has a wonderful bouquet that surprises us with its blend of smoothness and delicacy, with flavours of candied citrus, pear and baked apple, moving with aeration to the scents of mocha with toasty notes. In the mouth we appreciate the transparency in the expression of vinous. Resulting in a harmony between balance and length ~ “the result of a true vintage”. The candy fruit flavours on the nose are back, and blend with creamy maturity that makes this a true 'meal' of a wine.
